At 147 hectares, Cork Docklands is Ireland’s largest brownfield regeneration project. With a planned investment of over €470m in enabling infrastructure, it has capacity to provide 10,000 new homes and up to 25,000 jobs. The redevelopment of Cork Docklands is of national strategic importance. Its inclusion under the National Development Plan and commitment of multiannual government funding has created an exceptional opportunity to deliver on its vision.

Policy Background

The proposed transport, flood protection, public realm, community and sports infrastructure projects will transform the Docklands from an underutilised area of Cork City to a place of choice to live and work.

The implementation of the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (CMATS) and the Cork City Development Plan provide the required policy framework, which supports Cork City Councils vision for a sustainable transit-oriented development.
